A Clinical Study of Topical KW-8701 Therapy in Alopecia

Abstract
KW-8701 is mainly composed of 0.025%tretinoin & 1% minoxidil. Tretinoin has been shown to promote and regulate cell proliferation and differentiation in the epithelium and m.y promote vascular proliferation. Minoxidil, a potent peripheral vasodilator used to control severe hypertension, has been found to cause a reversible hypertrichosis in most patients reated systemically for a month or longer. The synergistic effect of retinoids in combinati. with a low concentration of minoxidil had been shown in past study. This shoud also be further investigated.
Ninety patients with alopecia were included in this study. Patients were treated with topical application of KW-8701 once a day for 6 months. The effect was assessed by the appearance of vellus hairs or terminal hairs on the previously bald areas.
The results were summarized as follows
1. A total of 49 patients with alopecia areata was treated with KW-8701 had therapeutic KW-8701 is mainly composed of 0.025%tretinoin & 1% minoxidil.
